Mammal Surveying and Beaver Site at Woodland Valley Farm
We started our morning checking the longworth traps set the night before, and had a high success rate, finding 16 wood mice, all healthy and of both genders We then got to have a look at the site of the cornwall beaver project, which will be the first beavers in Cornwall in 500 years. For more information have a look at the project page!
After an early start, Chris provided a much needed breakfast and Hugh Graham, a PhD student at the University of Exeter, gave a talk about water flow impacts the beavers could have based on the existing study site in Devon!
Thanks to Chris Jones for letting us survey for small mammals on his farm and showing us round the site of the upcoming beaver reintroduction, and Hugh for a fantastic talk!
