Septimus the Seal with the Cornwall Seal Group
As a thank you to Cornwall Mammal Group for our financial contribution towards Septimus the seal, we were lucky enough to have the chance to meet and hear about his life both pre and post skeletal.
Sue, Rob and Katie from Cornwall Seal Group did their best impression of Pickford’s Removals in bringing Septimus and all his baggage to talk to us at Fraddon Village Hall. Septimus was the third largest Grey Seal that has been recorded in Cornwall and he was washed up near Mevagissey in 2014. Because there was obviously nothing on the telly at the time Rob spent the next couple of months recording Septimus’s gradual decay on the beach before the strange people of CSGRT decided to rescue the rotting corpse and continue the process in a friendly farmer’s field! 5 years later on and now Septimus is flying the flag for Grey Seal awareness – as a fully articulated skeleton. A great chance to see CSGRT’s work and a really entertaining evening – catch Septimus and his support crew at their upcoming events (or before they put their backs out lifting Septimus out of the car….)
